Book Review: Unsouled (Unwind, #3) by Neal Shusterman
Book Review: Unsouled (Unwind, #3) by Neal Shusterman
Rating: **** (4/5 stars)
Just when I thought that I could see a bright path ahead for my beloved characters in this dystology, I end up frustrated in the middle of it, more and more creeped out but good thing, this book ends in a hopeful light in the words of Sonia.
You can still see the haunting issue of Unwinding and I am afraid that the revelations and the situation of this is far from getting better and it's just getting worst here. This book still continues the journey of our heroes: Connor, Risa and Lev, faced with new decisions and situations towards with their prime goal: to stop the unwinding. Of course, the evit intent of Proactive Citizenry (shitty) organization is still on a move towards a darker creation, which leaves Cam a possible and terrible fate but I still believe that the pureness of his own soul will save him (I really hope). Connor and Lev, still being followed by the government and juvies, with the other parts pirates specifically, Nelson and a new obsessed, psychotic teen - Argent and Starkey Lord with his storks movement makes me more frustrated. There are also new fierce and fun characters here. There's Una, the Tashi'nes and Grace.
I should applaud Neal Shusterman's imagination in building a really terrifying world in this series. I mean, some articles and advertisements are really logical and these are possible cases. For example those crime makers, instead of having their death penalty, they should better be unwound. Like really....that's an idea but gosh, it was terrifying thought to have a bits and pieces of others in your body. I'm still on team robots. Ha! The characters are also a good elements here, though there are subtle developments specially in the main characters, but it makes them real, not superficial, just enough. I also love the play of every minor characters, their thoughts.. like Hayden. I always like him.. from the time that he befriended Connor, he completely complements Connor with his wits and intelligence though same thing with Grace. I think Hayden and Grace together in a scene will be amusing to read. I always love Risa's character and she complements Connor in a different way but of course, if they want a hope for humanity to be normal again, their romance should be delayed. All in all, Shusterman have written yet another satisfying book in his dystology and I really hope that justice will be served in the next book - Undivided.
