Book Review: In the Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken
Rating: **** (4/5 stars)
I didn't sleep because I can't put it down and I just have to finish it!
The conclusion of the trilogy is great, how the plot itself have come to its ending not making the story a bit forced, making every details clear that I didn't even notice that the next page will be the acknowledgment. I mean, from every conflict resolved (though I'm not happy about everything about it) through how Ruby reached her mission, the series has simply make it to its happy ending. I really like how Ruby and every other characters have developed themselves, being brave and strong that is really appropriate in their situation.
There are parts that really annoy the hell out of me. Most especially with Clancy's part (I swear, I pity and hate that kid). I am also annoyed with the stubborness and Liam and Ruby and I am so grateful for Chubs, Vida and Zu to definitely ease it all and made some sense to our heroes. Well, I understand the stubborness of Liam and especially Ruby, also, their weakness makes them human and balance all the possible superficiality of their characters. And I love it when the both of them were together *blushing*, they are each other's weakness. One of the reason that even the series is really good, I rated it as 4 stars is because (view spoiler) and it was as if the darkest mind is not yet finished even if this was the last book of the series. I need more from them, I can't part with them yet!
The Darkest Minds really is a wonderful series, I used to relate it with Divergent but it was far from it. Maybe Tris somehow reminds me of Ruby. The two of them got the same spirit. All in all, great read. And I am hoping for more, Alexandra Bracken...pretty please.
