Book Review: Something Blue by Emily Griffin
Book Review: Something Blue by Emily Griffin
Rating: **** (4/5 stars)
I settled with Something Blue along my boredom. Since I already watched Something Borrowed, I can catch up a little on the first part of the book. Then I realized that even though I haven’t read it yet or watch it, I can still understand the plot and what is the narrator telling.
On this book, Darcy is the narrator narrating her life after tragic end on the first book (I think). Rachel and her, not bestfriend anymore; Dex and her, cheating with each other; her having a baby with Marcus, etc. I sympathize at her at first but I can’t help but annoyed on how Darcy directed her life. She was a narcissist and irresponsible and I dunno, misdirected. She lost her prestige, her love life and her last strings to survive in New York: friends and family. Everything changed when she met Ethan in London and I already admired her by then.
And obviously, that’s why I chose this book, it’s a happy ending. Darcy already let go of all the bitterness that happened to her life and released her feelings for Ethan (finally). She finally understood the meaning of true love and true friendship. She is finally and purely happy with her life with her twins and the love of her life. Well deserved. Since all she wanted was changes and happiness, she seek for it and there she go, she finally found it.
This book shows how true friendship and true love really works. That even an It Girl, self absorbed, fame seeker, surface lover, insecure beauty like Darcy can find it with the right person unexpectedly. The realization that hits her that you cannot go on with life’s challenges and problems without anyone who is there beside you to cheer you up share amazing experience with. That true love is just right there, waiting in the corner, waiting for the right moment to come to you so that you could be amazingly happy when that right moment comes.
